Tenterden Trout Waters was one of the first still water fisheries in South East England. The site enjoys an excellent reputation with discerning fly fishermen Worldwide. There is one main lake, extending to about 3.5 acres and two smaller lakes. The largest of the lakes lies at the bottom of a sweeping grassy slope, the pools are tiered so they drain into the main lake. The two smaller lakes despite their size, are surprisingly deep and well stocked with a good head of fish.

Fishing
Orvis Fly Fishing Beginners Group
Contact: Orvis: 01580 761999
A new fly-fishing group is emerging in Tenterden. Highly committed to the well-being of our community, Orvis of Tenterden hosts free monthly beginners' Fly-Fishing Courses. Join our fishing specialists in Orvis this season for a basic introduction to fly-fishing, including an overview of tackle and the best practices for fly-fishing. Find your soul mates and make friends for life; take up a new hobby, improve your skills and make your next fishing trip a complete success.
The course is popular with retirees, families, and couples. There should be no more than 10 people in a group, better 8 or even 6 – it makes training more personalised. Firstly, an instructor gives a talk about fly fishing fundamentals – basics, rods and flies. Then, we go to the back of the store, to an open area where the instructors demonstrate different types of casting. Then, the most exciting part – practice: the students have a go at it, followed by 1 to 1 training. Orvis's nationally acclaimed Fishing Masters Ian Brett and Richard Turton have 80 years combined experience in fly fishing. They are well-versed in different types of fly fishing techniques for different kinds of water. Richard is a Trout Master and an expert in Competition Fishing. Fly fishing students often stop by the store for a chat with their favourite instructor and always get helpful advice. Orvis Fly Fishing department would like the course to be more general service; there are plans to explore the area and involve local fisheries. Call into the shop or telephone 01580 761999 for further information.

The Tuesdays Community Singing Group
Contact: Jeanie Osborne Phone: 01580 761021
email: jean.osborne@virgin.net web: www.thetuesdays.biz
The Tuesdays is a rapidly-growing singing club based in Tenterden, Kent that meets on a weekly basis to sing, learn, hopefully improve, but most of all to have fun! All genres of music are covered and the members help with the ongoing choice of material.
Emphasis is placed on gaining confidence, which is achieved quickly in this welcoming community group. Under the expert guidance of professional performers Max and Beth, newcomers soon find themselves participating effortlessly, while meeting a great mix of people. The group sometimes works toward public performance, but no pressure is put on any of our singers unless they show a desire to do so.
Interested in joining us? If you have ever wanted to sing for your own pleasure, or harboured a desire to perform in public, then look no further. There is no audition process and those of all ages and abilities are very welcome. The only prerequisite is a love of singing.
Sessions and rehearsals are held at the Old Meeting House in Ashford Road, Tenterden and, for those wishing to progress further, additional small groups are run on an occasional basis. You can see us in action at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJs3_ska7ro&feature=related

The Barn Theatre hides in the grounds of Smallhythe Place near Tenterden. In 1928 Edith Craig, Ellen Terry’s daughter converted the Barn into the Barn Theatre and since then we have enjoyed a selection of the most memorable and enchanting plays ever produced.
You can sense a magical atmosphere in the Barn Theatre while you are waiting for the play to start. You can't help thinking about the great actors and actresses that have acted there in the past. It's as if their ghosts are sitting with you in the stalls.
