Biddenden Vineyards is open to visitors throughout the year, with free admission and tastings. The Vineyard is situated 1½ miles from the lovely old Wealden village of Biddenden. Award winning wines, ciders and juices are produced on site at the vineyards, and visitors area able to walk through the vines on choice of marked routes as well as take a look in the winery. Free guided tours are run on selected Saturdays throughout the year. Teas and coffee are available throughout the year and ice creams during the summer months. Chapel Down Winery Smallhythe Tenterden

The Chapel Down Winery is home to England's largest wine producer. Visitors can visit our Wine and Fine Food Store where they will find the best in Kentish and English food and drink, including our range of award-winning still and sparkling wines, plus a fantastic cheese counter, handmade chocolates, cakes, ice-cream, smoked meat and fish and much more.

Our newly refurbished fantastic new restaurant ‘The Swan’ is now open serving a great value, locally sourced English menu, situated on the first floor above the Wine and Fine Food Store.

Guided tours of the vineyard and winery are available from April to October. Alternatively visitors are invited to stroll around our vineyards, herb garden and landscaped grounds themselves using a vineyard trail map. Entry and parking are free. Tenterden Steam Railway - Kent and East Sussex Railway

Travel back to the nostalgic age of steam and enjoy a trip through 10 miles of beautiful countryside to medieval Bodiam Castle on England's finest rural light railway. Beautifully restored coaches and locomotives dating from Victorian times, enable visitors to experience travel and service from a bygone age. While you are visiting drop into the Colonel Stephens Museum, a tribute to one of the country's leading railway engineers.

Open every weekend May-Oct and daily in Peak Season. We have a tourist information hut which is open on all operating days and although unmanned contains information about many tourist attractions.

Sissinghurst Castle

A National Trust property, the Garden at Sissinghurst Castle was created in the 1930s by novelist Vita Sackville-West and Sir Harold Nicolson as a series of small, romantic outdoor rooms. Set in the ruins of a Tudor mansion, the Garden is surrounded by extensive woodland ideal for walking. There is an Exhibition, Shop and the newly refurbished Granary Restaurant serves food made from the produce of the organic vegetable plot and the tenant farmer. Smallhythe Place

Home to the Victorian Shakespearean actress Ellen Terry from 1899 until 1928. This superb Tudor 16th Century half-timbered house boasts a museum containing fascinating theatrical memorablia, a theatre and cottage garden where seasonal events are held. Licensed cafe. Tenterden & District Museum

The Tenterden Museum was opened in 1976. The collections and exhibitions include the Cinque Ports, the busy seaport of Smallhythe, Victorian life, the Tenterden Tapestry, depicting the history of the town from Roman times made by the children of Tenterden in 1974, Tenterden life including the local potteries, the tannery, the brewery, the Borough police force and the fire brigade, hop growing and harvesting, and mathematical tiles and buildings in Tenterden.


The Museum is in a quiet location just off Tenterden High Street. The 19th century weatherboard building was a coach house and stables.


Opening times: Good Friday to mid October, open every day except Mondays. Easter to end June 1.30pm to 4.30pm, July/August/September - 11am to 4.30pm, October - 1.30pm to 4.30pm

Tenterden Town Hall

The Town Hall was built in 1790. The Georgian Assembly Room on the first floor displays the names of all the Bailiffs and Mayors since 1449.

This building houses the Tenterden Town Council and is not normally open for the public to wander around. However it is a wonderful building to gaze at from the outside and it is well worth taking a photo to remind you of your visit to Tenterden.

The C M Booth Collection of Historic Vehicles

First opened in 1972, the CM Booth Collection of Historic Vehicles is a private collection specialising in Morgan cars dating from 1909 to 1935. Other vehicles include 1929 Morris van, 1929 Ford 'A', 1904 Humber Tri-car, and early motorcycles and cycles, garage equipment and other automobilia, toy and model cars. The Colonel Stephens Railway Museum records the career of Holman Fred Stephens, light railway promoter, engineer and manager, his family, his railways and his successors.

Opening Days for 2011: 19 March 2011 and then on Kent and East Sussex Railway (KESR) operating days until October.

Free car park on site. Disabled Access: Wheelchair access is available to all areas, except for viewing one of the video presentations which involves two steps. The Railway Museum has a bookshop which sells a wide range of second-hand books and magazines. The Museum staff are always on hand to offer help and advice.

The Mill Toy & Pedal Car Museum Northiam

The Mill Toy & Pedal Car Museum opened in 2011 and houses a unique privately owned collection of collectables and nostalgic pedal – powered toys. There are over 3000 exhibits and 400 cars, a tea room and gardens.


Located on the A28 opposite the Kent & East Sussex Railway at Northiam Station, the Museum is open six day a week, Tuesday to Sunday between 10am and 5pm, closed on Mondays. 2012 Admission Prices Adult (over 16 yrs) £5.00 Child £3.00 Senior Citizen £4.00 Children under 3 FREE


The Mill was built between 1900 and 1910 and operated for many years as a gas powered flour mill, 100 years later the building has been lovingly restored and converted into a toy and pedal car museum which is widely considered the largest and finest collection of pedal cars in Europe. With exhibits dating from Victorian times, visitors of all ages will enjoy a trip down memory lane as a world in miniature awaits discovery.  The majority of exhibits  on display in the Museum have been lovingly played with by children from around the world.
 
The Mill has its own free car park.
